Swollen Members Return, Plan New Album

Swollen Members
Swollen Members will release their first album in three years, Armed To The Teeth, on Oct. 13 through Suburban Noize/E1.

To say the last few years have been rough ones for the Members would be an understatement. MC Mad Child was "severely addicted to Oxycontin" and was taking over more than 20 80 milligram pills a day. He was also in a lot of trouble with police due to his affiliations with Hell's Angels and other gangs.

"I was basically living in my theater room for the last two years and spent over half a million dollars on pills," Mad Child says. "I wasn't paying attention to my business affairs, either, so I lost $2 million over the course of my addiction.

"I went from living the high life with girls, money and parties to watching movies in my theatre and being a zombie with only my dogs to keep me company. What I now realize is that I put the lives of many people on hold during my addiction. There are a lot of people that count on me and I know I let them down.

"Thank God I have a studio in my house and an amazing group who never abandoned me. The only good thing that came out of the last three years is the album we are about to drop."

No tracklisting for Armed To The Teeth has been announced yet, but Swollen Members have posted a new track called "Warrior," which will appear on Armed To The Teeth, on their MySpace page.

You can see Mad Child, Prevail and Rob The Viking at the Seattle Center as part of Bumbershoot on Sept. 6 and at Hawthorne in Portland, Or. on Sept. 18.
