Leonard Cohen will follow this year's Polaris Music Prize long listed CD/DVD package, Live In London, on Oct. 20 with a CD/DVD package documenting his performance at the 1970 Isle Of Wight Music Festival.
Leonard Cohen Live At The Isle Of Wight 1970, which will be released through Columbia/Legacy, was shot by Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Murray Lerner (From Mao To Mozart: Isaac Stern In China) on Aug. 31, 1970 in front of an audience of 600,000 after Jimi Hendrix's set, which was to be one of Hendrix's final gigs. Audio of the set was recorded by producer Teo Macero (Miles Davis, Charles Mingus).
Cohen was joined at the gig by back-up band Bob Johnston, Charlie Daniels (bass, fiddle), Ron Cornelius (guitar) and Elkin "Bubba" Daniels (bass, banjo) along with back-up singers Corlynn Hanney, Susan Musamanno and Donna Washburn. The DVD/Blu-ray features bonus interviews with Baez, Kris Kristofferson and Judy Collins, who watched Cohen's set from the side of the stage.
Leonard Cohen Live At The Isle Of Wight 1970 will be released as a CD/DVD package and the audio also be available as a separate double-LP vinyl set and Blu-ray disc.
The release of the package coincides with Cohen's upcoming North American tour, which will take place in October and November. You can see Cohen here:
