Besnard Lakes, Think About Life, Parlovr Set For M On The Quays

The Besnard Lakes

Think About Life, Besnard Lakes, Parlovr and many more of Montreal's hottest live acts will brave the elements one more time this dreadful summer, as M For Montreal hosts their second annual Old Port mini-Woodstock (their words) M On The Quays Sept. 5 and 6.

It has been a lousy summer, weather-wise, from forest fires in Kelowna, B.C. to Hurricane Bill hitting Newfoundland and a steady barrage of lightning crashing down on southern Ontario. It's been no different in Montreal, as rain nearly derailed its two biggest outdoor concert events, the Montreal Jazz Fest and Osheaga.

Weather permitting, the Old Port on the southern tip of the island is typically packed with visitors and nautical-faring sorts in the summer, so it's no surprise the organization dedicated to giving local bands exposure to international audiences would set up shop for a free weekend show in the heart of the city's tourist area.

Acts currently announced for Sept. 5 include punk-poppers The New Cities, DJ-turned-frontwoman Misstress Barbara (with Girls On A Ducati), eclectic troubador Yann Perreau and with franco rockers Les Dales Hawerchuk and Chinatown.

Sept. 6 will feature electro-rappers Omnikrom, The Besnard Lakes, dance-punk group Duchess Says, Creature, Think About Life, Parlovr, Jedi Electro, Parlovr, La Descente Du Coude and Mille Monarques.

Both days are free and will be held at Place Des Vestiges on the Quays of the Old Port. For more information check out mpourmontreal.com.
