Stephenie Meyer, the author of the tweenie-beloved
Twilight series, has outed herself as a gigantic indie rock nerd.
The woman who's responsible for creating characters like Bella Swan and Edward Cullen named
The Weakerthans in a post on her website about what she's been listening to lately.
Meyer lists the 2008 Polaris Music Prize
short listed Reunion Tour among albums "I've had for a while now, but that I can't stop listening to," a category which also includes Elbow's 2008
Mercury Prize-winning The Seldom Seen Kid.
Further, she says her favourite new albums, or "awesome CDs I discovered this summer" include: Animal Collective's
Merriweather Post Pavilion, Silversun Pickups'
Swoon, White Rabbits'
It's Frightening, The Dead Weather's
Horehound, Grizzly Bear's
Veckatimest and Meese's
Broadcast.
Twilight kids, this basically means you should prepare yourself to hear Animal Collective's "My Girls" or The Weakerthans' "Night Windows" sometime in the future when Bella is escaping vampires.
Thom Yorke, you have some competition.
That really hurt to write.
New Moon, the second film in the
Twilight series, opens in theatres Nov. 20.

That sound you hear is thousands of hipsters collectively jumping off the bandwagon, if they haven't already.
