Montreal's Kill The Lights will release their MapleMusic debut, Fog Area, on Aug. 25.
The follow-up to 2007's Buffalo Of Love was recorded between April 2008 and May 2009 at Montreal's Breakglass Studios with producer and Besnard Lakes member Jace Lasek.
"On the road to New York City to put the last nail in the coffin of a six-year relationship, in the dead of winter, totally unsure of my future, I passed through Vermont and got stuck in a giant snowstorm," singer/guitarist Alex Hackett says. "Totally snow-blinded, cars were moving at a crawl, and the only sign I could read was FOG AREA, over and over again.
"I thought it was so surreal, it was an omen, it was one of those moments that stunned me as being totally symbolic. I'd been trying for so long to put into words my state of mind and the state of the band in the previous months, and there the road was whispering to me, endlessly."
You can hear "Je Suis Perdu," "Tst Drone" and "Witch's Easter Egg" on Kill The Lights' MySpace page.
