Matt Good Streaming First Single From Vancouver Album

Matthew Good is streaming "Last Parade" on his website.
It's the first single from Vancouver, the singer's forthcoming concept album about his home city, which will be released Oct. 6. "Last Parade" is also available for purchase via iTunes right now.
The song starts out with some atmospheric piano work before a Coldplay-but-tougher build and then Good's lyrical challenge/threat:
"It feels like time to let it go
"It feels like time to break or show
"It feels like time to cut your brakes
"Shut your mouth, do something, anything
"It feels like time to fuck or leave
"It feels like I choke you just to breathe
"It feels like time and time at all
"Just blacked out, wake up before I wander home"
In the chorus, there's some stuff about mountains 'n' shit and it all wraps up with the effectively soaring slogan "ain't it good to be back home."
The song has a strong undercurrent of the tension and vitriol that has become Good's trademark, but this new external focus — Vancouver/Canadiana — appears to have effectively redirected the relentless nervous me, me, me energy of Good's last album, Hospital Music, making it a promising sneak peek of what's to come.
