All 10 Nominees Performing At Polaris Music Prize Gala

All 10 Polaris Music Prize short listers will perform at this year's gala when it's held at Toronto's Masonic Temple on Sept. 21.

Elliott Brood, Fucked Up, Great Lake Swimmers, Hey Rosetta!, K'Naan, Malajube, Metric, Joel Plaskett, Chad VanGaalen and Patrick Watson will all perform songs from their short listed albums. This marks the first time in the Polaris Music Prize's history that all 10 short listers will perform at the gala.

"Each year we cross our fingers in the hopes that all of our short listed artists can be present to bask in the glow of their nomination and share the love with their fellow nominees," says Polaris Music Prize founder and executive director Steve Jordan. "We're extremely excited that the scheduling gods have allowed for this. It's going to be an unforgettable night of music."

The 2009 Polaris Music Prize gala will be hosted for the third year in a row by CBC Radio 3's Grant Lawrence, while presenters include CBC Radio's Jian Ghomeshi, 102.1 The Edge's Alan Cross, MTV Canada's Johnny Hockin, MuchMoreMusic's Matt Wells and author Rob Bowman.

The Grand Jury has also been announced, and this year it includes: Herohill's Bryan Acker, The Province's Stuart Derdeyn, Elle's Mary Dickie, the National Post's Brad Frenette, freelance journalist Nicolas Jennings, CBC TV's Robert Mersereau, Hour's Brendan Murphy, Musique Plus' Mia Parang, the Toronto Star's Ben Rayner, the Globe And Mail's Brad Wheeler and the Calgary Sun's Lisa Wilton.

The gala will be broadcast live on Sirius Satellite Radio and a one-hour special will air on MuchMusic on Sept. 26.
