Rolling Pearl Stones Jam

Pearl Jam

Concertgoers were treated to a double dose of rock royalty when Pearl Jam were joined onstage by Rolling Stones guitarist/bassist Ronnie Wood on Wednesday night.

The show at London's O2 Shepherds Bush Empire was Pearl Jam's U.K. live comeback and saw the band perform old favourites like "Why Go" and "Dissident" as well as new track "The Fixer," the first single from Pearl Jam's upcoming ninth studio album, Backspacer, which comes out Sept. 20.

Frontman Eddie Vedder introduced Wood shortly after the set began. Wood then led the band in a bluesy rendition of the Bob Dylan classic "All Along The Watchtower," trading riffs with Pearl Jam guitarists Stone Gossard and Mike McCready, according to NME.com.

Vedder kept things humourous with his banter throughout the two-and-a-half-hour set, telling the crowd about the episode of Big Brother he had seen in his hotel room the previous night.

"It was just some people sleeping," he said, according to NME.com. "Do you know that show? I couldn't bear the tension."

Pearl Jam went on to play their 1991 debut single "Alive" and an extended version of "Even Flow." NME.com reports they returned to the stage for two encores, which included "Last Exit," a cover of The Who's "The Real Me" — featuring Pete Townshend's brother Simon Townshend, who is a member of The Who's touring band, on guitar — and a solo performance of new track "The End" by Vedder.

At the end of the show, Vedder thanked the crowd for their support throughout the years as the band took a collective bow.

Pearl Jam are holding an online scavenger hunt, challenging fans to complete a puzzle in order to reveal the album's cover art. "The Fixer" is now available for streaming on the band's MySpace page.
