Eagles Of Death Metal Diss Lars Ulrich

Eagles Of Death Metal's Jesse Hughes has singled Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich out, saying he has a bad attitude and is an "asshole."
Hughes was interviewed by the Montreal Mirror last month and laced into Ulrich for making Metallica uncool.
"Lars Ulrich from Metallica is somebody who just really gets my gander up," he said.
"You can tell the other guys in the band are cool and used to just be serious heshers who were probably whacked out on meth and would've kicked your ass in the '80s. On the other hand, you have Lars, who is just this swishy Mary who grew his hair long, put on a denim jacket and infiltrated this cool gang.
"The only time I met him, he was wearing a golf pantsuit and everybody was wondering who this fat golfer dude was acting like an asshole in our backstage area. He could've been the greatest, but I went up to him after I figured out who he was and told him how much I loved Metallica, and he just looked through me and walked away.
"Thirty minutes later, Josh [Homme, Eagles Of Death Metal drummer] introduced me as the dude from the band, and he didn't even remember me from a half-hour before and went on about how he thought we were rad. The only thing I wanted to do at that point was kick his ass."
Hughes went on to attack Ulrich's sense of "sense of entitlement" said Ulrich's attitude is evidence that success can sometimes go to a person's head.
"The way I grew up, it's critically important to not be an asshole just because you can sing well or whatever," he said.
Interestingly enough, last week a rumour was spreading that Ulrich was nearly booted from Metallica.
Former Metallica guitarist and current Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine recently said Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian once told him late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton wanted Ulrich out of the band.
"[Ian] said that when Metallica got home, that James [Hetfield, vocals/guitar], Cliff and Kirk [Hammett, guitar] were going to fire Lars," Mustaine told Rolling Stone magazine.
Ian denied ever saying anything of the kind on Anthrax's Twitter.
"Story's not true. Little does anyone know but Lars actually owns the [Metallica] name," he wrote on Friday. "Good luck ever kicking him out."
Mustaine was fired from Metallica in 1983 because of his alcoholism, drug use and clashes with Ulrich and Hetfield.
Burton was killed in 1986 when Metallica's tour bus skidded over some
black ice and flipped into a ditch. He flew out of a window and the bus
landed on him, crushing him to death.
