Motion City Soundtrack Like Dinosaurs

Motion City Soundtrack are slated to release their fourth studio album later this year, but up until recently the band had not announced the album's official title. It took producer and Blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus to pry that out of them.

In an MTV interview on the first date of the Blink-182 reunion tour, Hoppus decided to play journalist while MCS frontman Justin Pierre and guitarist Joshua Cain sat in the hot seat. Hoppus got right down to business with the band, asking them directly about the top-secret title of their upcoming album.

"I just worked with them and produced their new record, which is titled My Dinosaur Life," revealed Hoppus. "Is that what it's called?"

"I think so," Pierre responded. "Currently we're having inter-band discussions between This Dinosaur Life, My Dinosaur Life, This Is My Dinosaur Life, His Dinosaur Life, Her Dinosaur Life, Their Dinosaur Lives. But I'm partial to My."

"I think My is good," said Hoppus. "Can we firm it up right now? My Dinosaur Life."

Hoppus then asked the band to unveil something shocking about the new album.

"I think it's an awesome record," said Cain. "It's definietely a step up. Not that [sophomore album] Commit This To Memory is a bad record, I love that record. I just feel that we got a little more aggro on this one."

But Hoppus wanted to know more.

"What was it like to have two gnarly, defining rock moment milestones in your career," he asked. "Commit This To Memory and My Dinosaur Life — both that are almost as big as Nirvana?"

"Words can't really express it. I'm stumped," said Pierre. "You know what, though? It feels good. One day, with a little help, you guys can get there."

We're sure Hoppus was encouraged by that statement.
