Former Warrant singer Jani Lane will have to spend two days in jail after he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor DUI charge.
Lane (real name John Kennedy Oswald) was charged with driving under the influence and hit-and-run when he hit a parked car in Los Angeles' Woodland Hills neighbourhood last month, according to TMZ.
After he gets out of jail, Lane must serve 36 months probation, do three months of alcohol education classes and complete 30 days of Caltrans road work. He also has to pay over $395 U.S. (about $ Canadian) in fines. Should he fail to pay, he will have to serve a further 13 days in jail.
Lane sang with Warrant from their formation in 1984 to earlier this decade. He left the band pursue a solo career, but later went to rehab for drug and alcohol addiction. He said he was finally "straight" earlier this year.
"It's just a matter of deciding you're done, in my opinion," Lane said on The Johnny Dare Morning Show.
"I mean, that probably oversimplifies it, but really, really and truly you have to go, 'You know what? I'm done with this. I don't like feeling like this, I don't like living like this.' And it's also nice to get the creativity back, which is impossible to flow when you're unconscious."
Lane rejoined Warrant last year, but the band split up with him a few months later and replaced him with ex-Lynch Mob vocalist Robert Mason.
