Pearl Jam Internet Art Scavenger Hunt

Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam are playing hard to get.

Rather than simply releasing the cover art for their upcoming album Backspacer, the band have decided to hold an online scavenger hunt that fans will have to finish before they can see the artwork in its entirety.

Puzzle pieces featuring images by cartoonist Tom Tomorrow (This Modern World) have been hidden in the deepest, darkest corners of the interweb — the first piece has already been provided. Once the searcher has found all nine pieces, they will win a free download from the band.

After This Modern World was removed from 12 alternative weekly newspapers in the United States earlier this year, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder called on Pearl Jam fans to write those publications to protest.

Backspacer drops Sept. 20 in the u.S. and two days later in Canada. You can hear the album's title track on the Pearl Jam website.
