Jane's Addiction Cancel Australian Tour

Jane's Addiction have canceled their upcoming Australian tour due to drummer Stephen Perkins' recent hospitalization.
An unidentified infection was discovered when Perkins noticed severe swelling and pain in his elbow when the band returned to L.A. after several European dates.
According to a statement from the alt.rock band's management, Perkins has been admitted to the infectious disease ward at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Hospital for treatment.
"Doctors expect to keep him there for the next few days for further diagnosis and observation while anti-biotic treatment continues," the statement reads.
The 41-year-old Perkins is expected to recover fully in the next few weeks.
The Australian tour was to begin July 25.
"I know how excited we were to come play in Australia, and how long the fans there have waited for this," singer Perry Farrell says in a July 23 post on the band's website. "I want everyone Down Under to know that we will come back as soon as we can."
News of Perkins' hospitalization follows Tuesday's announcement that Beastie Boy Adam "MCA" Yauch will undergo treatment to remove a cancerous tumor from his parotid gland and lymph nodes in his neck.
The hip-hop trio were forced to cancel performances at four major summer festivals, including their sets at Lollapalooza and the All Points West Music & Arts Festival. Yeah Yeah Yeahs will take the Beasties' place at the former event, while Jay-Z will fill in at the latter.
Perkins' condition is not expected to affect his group's appearance at Lollapalooza, where they will headline the night of Aug. 9. Bandmate Farrell co-founded the now Chicago-based festival in 1991.
The original lineup of Jane's Addiction reunited last year and are currently in the middle of a world tour — their first together in over 17 years.
