Winehouse Acquitted Of Assault

Amy Winehouse was found not guilty on Friday of assaulting dancer Sherene Flash at a charity event in London, England last September.

Flash had accused Winehouse of punching her in the eye backstage when the dancer asked the 25-year-old pop star for a photo with her. Winehouse told reporters she was "relieved" after the verdict was read on Friday, according to Reuters.

"She's always maintained her innocence and is very happy to move on with her life and put the episode behind her," a spokesperson said.

The prosecution tried to prove Winehouse acted with "deliberate and unjustifiable violence" towards Flash, but district judge Timothy Workman said he could not be sure the incident was not an accident.

On Thursday, Winehouse testified that there was no possible way she could have because she is shorter than the dancer.

Winehouse showed Judge Timothy Workman her heel-less pink ballet shoes, which she said she was wearing at the time of the incident. She said Flash had a significant advantage over her and intimidated her since the dancer is five feet seven inches tall. Winehouse said Flash was wearing high-heeled boots and was "drunk and being rude" at the time of the event, according to Britain's Times.

"Miss Flash came over and put her arm around me," Winehouse said, according to the newspaper. "She lent down. She's taller than me. I had flat shoes on.

"I'm probably five feet two inches to three inches tall. But my hair does make a difference.

"I had shoes on like this. In fact, these are the very shoes I had on that night. Look, they don't even have a sole. They don't have a heel."

The newly-divorced Winehouse is now free to try and get that perfume deal she so wants.

Oh, yeah, and maybe she could work on the follow-up to 2006's Back To Black as well. If she, you know, feels so inclined.
