It was one near miss for man, one huge miss for mankind.
Former Talking Heads star David Byrne recently revealed that while riding his bike in Manhattan, he almost ran down hotel heiress Paris Hilton.
Ah, well — better luck next time, Byrne.
In his upcoming memoir Bicycle Diaries, Byrne wrote that the Simple Life star "was holding her little doggie, crossing the street against the light and looking around as if to say, 'I'm Paris Hilton, don't you recognize me?'"
Byrne added that New Yorkers have "enough brains not to walk in front of a truck, but they'll step right into the path of a cyclist, thereby initiating a game of urban chicken."
Byrne and Brian Eno are currently on tour in support of Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, their first album together in 30 years. The duo will perform songs from the new album, as well as their 1981 record My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts, on the following dates:
July 22 Ferrara, Italy @ Piazza Castello
July 23 Naples, Italy @ Castel Sant'Elmo
July 24 Locorotondo, Italy @ Cantina Sociale (Locus Festival)
July 27 Cagliari, Italy @ Anfiteatro Romano
July 29 Turin, Italy @ Reggia Di Venaria (Real Festival)
July 30 Lyon, France @ Gran Theatre Romain de Fourviere w/ Marianne Faithfull
Aug. 1 Lokeren, Belgium @ Lokerse Feesten
Aug. 2 Amsterdam, Netherlands @ Melkweg (Rabozaal)
Aug. 3 London, England @ Barbican Theatre
Aug. 4 Southampton, England @ Southampton Guildhall
Aug. 8 Edinburgh, Scotland @ Edinburgh Playhouse
