David Bowie has released a new iPhone application that highlights his Ziggy Stardust period.
The Ziggy Stardust eBook application includes over 600 photos taken by Mick Rock from 1972 to 1973. It covers Bowie's "career" as Stardust, from the acclaim that surrounded the release of 1972's The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars, to the sold out American tour that followed it and Stardust's "retirement."
Users can email them to each other and talk about them in a Ziggy Stardust forum. Every photograph comes with information about where it was taken and Rock's comments.
You can download the Ziggy Stardust application on Bowie's website or through the iPhone application store.
This is the second iPhone application Bowie has released in the last week.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of his 1969 Space Oddity sophomore album, Bowie released "Space Oddity 40th Anniversary EP" on iTunes last week. It contained eight original MP3 stem tracks. Those who buy the EP can remix it on their computer with iKlax Creator Standard or can do so on their iPhone if they download the Space Oddity application.
