Beastie Boy Has Cancer

Beastie Boys have been forced to push back the release of their upcoming eighth studio album, Hot Sauce Committee, and have also cancelled all their upcoming dates because Adam "MCA" Yauch has cancer.
Yauch has to have surgery sometime next week to remove a cancerous tumor from his lymph nodes and neck.
"About two months ago, I started feeling this little lump in my throat, like what you would feel if you have like, swollen glands or something like that — you feel like you have a cold," Yauch says in a video posted on the Beastie Boys' website on Monday.
"So I didn't really think it was anything, but then just recently when we were over in Europe doing promotion I started talking to my doctor, and so I called my doctor and saw him when I got back — this was about two weeks ago — and he sent me to a specialist and they did tests and I actually have a form of cancer in the gland... called the parotid gland, and it's also in a lymph node right in that area."
Yauch took the time to reassure fans that although he has to have radiation on his neck, the cancer is only in his neck, has not spread and the operations will not affect his voice.
"It's a setback and it's a pain in the ass, but this is something that's very treatable, and in most cases they're able to get rid of it and people don't have continuing problems with it, and they've caught it early and it's not anywhere else in my body," he says.
It's not known when Hot Sauce Committee will be released. It was scheduled to come out Sept. 15 through Capitol.
The tour date cancellations mean Beastie Boys will no longer headline New Jersey's All Points West Music & Arts Festival on July 31, nor will they top the bill Aug. 2 at Montreal's Osheaga Music & Arts Festival or Aug. 8 at Lollapalooza.
Here is the list of cancelled Beastie Boys dates:

Aug. 2 Montreal, QC @ Parc Jean-Drapeau (Osheaga Music & Arts Festival)
Aug. 6 Chicago, IL @ Congress Theater
Aug. 8 Chicago, IL @ Grant Park (Lollapalooza)
Aug. 30 San Francisco, CA @ Golden Gate Park (Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival)
