Vancouver/Montreal duo Tegan And Sara are holier than thou.
The twin sister act have posted a video on their website announcing details of their upcoming sixth album, Sainthood. The follow-up to 2007'sThe Con is due for release Oct. 27.
"It's gonna be like, instead of people saying, […] 'Remember when you guys were Wiccan rock back in the Under Feet Like Ours days? Now you're a rock band. I love Sainthood,'" joked Tegan.
The Quin twins recordedSainthood with producers Chris Walla and Howard Redekopp (The New Pornographers). Walla helmed The Con, while Redekopp worked with the band on 2004's So Jealous. Walla plays bass on the album, while Death Cab For Cutie's Jason McGerr played drums. Touring guitarist Ted Gowans also contributed to the album. Sainthood was recorded at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, Calif. and McGerr's Two Sticks Audio in Seattle.
Tegan And Sara recorded 15 tracks for the album, but no track list has been announced for the album yet, which still needs to be mastered.
Tegan described the recording process and expressed her excitement for the soon-to-be-released album in a July 11 post on the duo's website.
"The record itself is sounding amazing," she wrote. "We have two mixes done so far and it's all coming together perfectly.
"It's a really great sounding record. The songs are so different and it's obvious even to me that we have changed, grown and challenged ourselves a lot with this one."
Tegan also described the album as "dark" in an interview with Under The Radar magazine.
You can see the Quin twins at the Rifflandia Music Festival in Victoria, B.C. on Sept. 25.
