Korn Frontman Going Solo

Korn's Jonathan Davis

Jonathan Davis is going solo. After months of working on his debut album, the Korn singer appears to have signed a deal with Warner Music Group.

Davis is a guest contributor on former Faith No More frontman Chuck Mosley's upcoming record, Will Rap Over Hard Rock For Food, and is listed as appearing "courtesy of Warner Bros. Records." A management spokesperson later confirmed the contract to HardDrive Radio.

Davis hopes to release his first solo album later this year or early in 2010, and spoke to radio show prep service Pulse Of Radio about the future release.

"I want the record to be the most amazing record I could possibly put out," he said. "I want all songs to be amazing and different. I want it to be really a very artistic, crazy album that no one's ever heard before. 'Cause it's very world music-y and dark, heavy, Peter Gabriel-esque type music and I want all the songs to be different, and nothing like Korn."

"The Enabler," the song on Mosley's album featuring Davis, also includes a cameo from Rob Zombie guitarist John 5.

Korn ended their two-album deal with EMI in 2007 and have not yet announced a new recording contract. The metal band have been working on their ninth studio album, and are planning on an early 2010 release date. Here'a s teaser for the album:

Former Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch released his debut solo album, Save Me From Myself, last year. It's about his conversion to born-again Christianity.

Bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu has also turned to Christianity and released an autobiography earlier this year.

Davis is scheduled to play a gig at Atlantic City, N.J.'s Harrah's on July 29.
