Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are on a break, so David Byrne sound-alike frontman
Alec Ounsworth has some free time on his hands. He'll fill it by releasing a solo album called
Mo Beauty on Oct. 20 through Anti-.
Ounsworth recorded the disc in New Orleans and it features the talents of the Meters' George Porter, Galactic's Stanton Moore, Greyboy Allstars' Robert Walter and Al "Carnival Time" Johnson.
Ounsworth formed Clap Your Hands Say Yeah in 2005. The band released their self-titled debut the same year and followed it with 2007's Some Loud Thunder. In January, it was
reported Clap Your Hands Say Yeah were "taking a break" while the members pursued other projects. There were rumours the band were breaking up instead, but the band later denied them.
Here are the songs on
Mo Beauty:
"Modern Girl (... With Scissors)"
"Bones In The Grave"
"Holy, Holy, Holy Moses (Song For New Orleans)"
"That Is Not My Name (After Bruegel)"
"Idiots In The Rain"
"South Philadelphia (Drug Days)"
"What Fun."
"Me And You, Watson"
"Obscene Queen Bee #2"
"When You've No Eyes"
