Strokes frontman
Julian Casablancas will release a solo album called
Phrazes For The Young sometime this fall.
The album, which does not have a firm release date, was produced by Jason Lader and Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Lightspeed Champion) and recorded in Los Angeles, Nebraska and New York City. According to NME.com, tracks that will appear on Phrazes For The Young include the title track, "River Of Brake Lights," "Glass" and "Ludlow Street."
Casablancas also plans to play a "special series" of U.S. dates before he heads on tour in support of the record later this year, NME.com reports.
The Strokes have not released an album since 2006's
First Impressions Of Earth, but were
working on its follow-up earlier this year. The band has been on a hiatus of sorts since 2007 and the band members have all been busy with other projects.
Casablancas appears on The Lonely Island's recently released
album. He also collaborated with Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse for the shelved Dark Night Of The Soul project.
Guitarist Albert Hammond, Jr. released his second solo album,
Como Te Llama?, last year, and drummer Fabrizio Moretti's side project, Little Joy, also put out an
album in 2008. Bassist Nikolai Fraiture released a
solo album under the Nickel Eye moniker earlier this year.
