Beck Adds More Material To Website

Maybe Scientology isn't a total crock of shit. I seriously doubt it, but something seems to have given Beck a bigger energy boost than a B12 shot. The artist has been on a creative roll of late, especially pertaining to his website, and he's just added the Videotheque section to the space.

"Modern Guilt was released one year ago this week!," Beck posted on the newly created Videotheque on the weekend. "For the occassion we are putting up acoustic versions of the entire album recorded earlier this year after returning from the Japan tour (under severe jet lag)."

"Orphans" is the first track posted and more songs will be added weekly. A four-cut EP from the recording session is promised soon, and all the promotional videos for the Danger Mouse-produced Modern Guilt will also be posted on the Videotheque.

This is the latest addition to Beck's site, following Record Club, Planned Obsolescence and Irrelevant Topics.

Record Club sees Beck covering his favourite albums. It so far features four songs from 1967's groundbreaking The Velvet Underground & Nico recorded with the likes of producer Nigel Godrich, actor Giovanni Ribisi, Joey Waronker, Brian LeBarton, Bram Inscore, Yo, Chris Holmes and Thorunn Magnusdottir.

Planned Obsolescence features mixed tracks, including a 47-minute piece called "Carpathian Teen Dream" that includes material from two dozen acts, including Herbie Hancock, Broken Social Scene, Stereolab, Sebadoh, Ariel Pink, Sheila E, M.I.A. and Simple Minds.

An interview segment called Irrelevant Topics features Beck interviewing musicians. Tom Waits was the first subject.

Beck's One Foot In The Grave was reissued with bonus tracks by Universal in May.
