TV On The Radio's Kyp Malone will release a solo album under the name Rain Machine on Sept. 22 via Anti- Records.

Malone describes Rain Machine as "a nearly full spectrum of frequencies audible to the human ear, a reflection of a variety of emotions and situations real and imagined — some rhythm some rhyme."

That doesn't offer much insight into the 11-track album, but the disc is said to include modern jazz and bluegrass elements as well as the guitar-based rock sounds more commonly associated with Malone's work with TV On The Radio.

The bushy-bearded singer/guitarist has been writing and recording songs alone since he moved to New York City at the dawn of the decade and performed as Black Lights and under his own name before adopting Rain Machine.

The self-titled debut was produced by Ian Brennan (Lucinda Williams, Jonathan Richman), and Malone created its artwork.
