Beck Enjoys Irrelevant Topics

Beck has launched an interview series called Irrelevant Topics on his website... which is exactly what its title implies.

Beck's website describes the series as "conversations between musicians, artists, writers, etc. on various subjects, without promotional pretext or editorial direction." The first interview is with Tom Waits, and is literally about nothing in particular. Los Lobos, Oscar Meyer, being struck by lightning, typhoons and Jerry Lee Lewis come up in the conversation, but it doesn't have a focus.

Beck recently relaunched his website and is doing something called the Record Club series, in which he and friends cover a classic album. Here's a video of Beck covering "Femme Fatale" from 1967's The Velvet Underground & Nico:
