AFI's upcoming eighth album, Crash Love, now has a release date.

Bassist Hunter Burgan announced last night via Twitter that the follow-up to 2006's Decemberunderground is due to drop Sept. 29.

"That's the official word," the vegan multi-instrumentalist wrote. "Are you ready???"

AFI began recording Crash Love in November 2008 with producer David Bottrill (Peter Gabriel, Muse, Tool).

Band members have spent their time pursuing their own projects since the release of Decemberunderground. Frontman Davey Havok launched a fashion line, Havok and guitarist Jade Puget recorded an electro album under the name Blaqk Audio and Burgan rejoined his former band, The Force. Burgan was also featured on Tegan And Sara's The Con.

The quartet will play the following concerts:

Aug. 22 Ludinghausen, Germany @ Flugplatz Borkenberge (Area 4 Festival)
Aug. 23 Erfurt-Hohenfelden, Germany @ Ferienpark (Highfield Festival)
Aug. 29 Leeds, England @ Bramham Park (Leeds Festival)
Aug. 30 Reading, England @ Richfield Avenue (Reading Festival)
