Halifax Pop Explosion Initial Lineup Announced

Final Fantasy, Japandroids and Japanther will be among the acts playing this year's Halifax Pop Explosion.

The festival, which is in its 17th year and showcases emerging Canadian and international talent, takes place Oct. 20 to 24. It will also feature performances by The Acorn and Ohbijou and a joint set by Julie Doiron and French folk outfit Herman Dune.

HPX is accepting digital and physical submissions from interested acts until July 20.

Early bird passes for the festival will run you $80. VIP passes are also available for $190. Passes will be available for purchase July10 to Aug. 31 online and at all Ticketpro outlets.

This year's festival will also host the Music Matters Conference on Oct. 23 and 24, a series of workshops, panels and guest speakers catering to musicians and industry professionals alike.
