Noel Gallagher: Doing Drugs Is "Beautiful"

Oasis singer/guitarist Noel Gallagher says he thinks Chris Martin is an "idiot" because the Coldplay singer says he's never used drugs.
Gallagher told Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera he thinks Martin's life is poorer because he hasn't experimented with drugs.
"I look at Chris Martin, who says he has never taken drugs in his life, and I think he is an idiot," Gallagher said. "Doing drugs is the most beautiful thing about being in a rock band.
"Up until 1998 I must have spent £1 million [about $1,900,000 Canadian] — then I stopped, because it's bad for your health, brain, life and for people around you. But while you use them — except for heroin which kills people and which I have never tried — as you lot [Italians] would say, 'Mamma Mia.'"
While Gallagher didn't have very kind words for Martin (does anyone?), he had nice things to say about Lily Allen.
Oasis and Allen both played the Rock Werchter Festival in Werchter, Belgium on Thursday. Gallagher wrote a blog entry on Friday in which he said he'd known Allen when she was much younger.
"I haven't seen her in a while," he wrote. "I've known Lil' since she was a kid. Her old fella [comedian Keith Allen] used to bring her round to that Supernova Heights gaff of mine in the '90s. A good kid. Works hard, plays hard."
She also has an attitude that rivals Gallagher's.
