Moneen Leaving World Behind

Moneen will release their fourth studio album, The World I Want To Leave Behind, through their new label, Dine Alone Records, on Sept. 15.

The band recorded the follow-up to 2006's The Red Tree at Toronto's Rattlebox Studio in January. It's produced by Brian Moncarz and David Bottrill (Tool, Muse) and features three tracks from the Hold That Sound digital EP, which came out last week and will be released on limited edition 12-inch vinyl on Tuesday.

"We wanted to create a record that was us, but at the same time something completely different than we have done before," singer/guitarist Kenny Bridges says. "We pushed ourselves harder than ever for this. We knew there was no way we could fool around with these songs. They were too important for us."

Moneen formed in Brampton, Ont. in 2000 and their debut album, The Theory Of Harmonial Value, came out the next year. It was followed by their break-out album, Are We Really Happy With Who We Are Right Now? in 2003. Moneen's lineup currently consists of Bridges, guitarist/singer Chris "Hippy" Hughes, bassist/singer Erik Hughes and drummer Steve Nunnaro.

You can see Moneen at the Cutting Edge Music Festival at Kitchener, Ont.'s Bingeman's Fun Park on Aug. 2.
