The rumours have been confirmed: Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme and ex-Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones are currently recording together at a Los Angeles studio.
Homme's wife and Spinnerette frontwoman Brody Dalle kept mum when she
told Antiquiet.com, "I'm not at liberty to talk about it... but I think
[the project] is pretty fucking amazing. Just beats and sounds like
you've never heard before."
Talk of the trio joining forces began as early as 2005 when Grohl told Mojo magazine, "The next project that I'm trying to initiate involves me on drums, Josh Homme on guitar, and John Paul Jones playing bass. That's the next album. That wouldn't suck."
In April, French journalist Cyril Deluermoz reported that the Foo frontman and Homme had indeed begun recording together.
"I'm working on some other music, which is more rock based, with a couple of other people. We hope to be everywhere this summer," Jones told Deluermoz in an interview that followed.
The Zep bassist wouldn't divulge any further details, and added, "I shouldn't have even said that, you know? There are some exciting projects coming up, let's put it that way."
We're well into summer, so it looks like it's going to be a little while longer before we hear any music from what is inarguably the biggest rock supergroup in some time.
