Matt Good has been spending his days doing more than just yardwork.
The songwriter will soon release his upcoming fourth solo album, Vancouver, and recently made one of the tracks, "Vancouver National Anthem," available for streaming in honour of his birthday (June 29). The kicker: Pete Yorn is on guest vocals.
"A lot of people have asked me about this particular song," Good wrote on his website in a post that's since been removed. "Of all the songs on Vancouver, this one contains the most direct, and personal commentary about the city in which I spent most of my adult life — which I'm sure will be refreshing to some and a point of contention with others.
"After I demoed this song, a friend and fellow musician, Pete Yorn, fell in love with it — so it seemed only proper to include him on the album version. While it might be tricky for many of you to spot his voice, as we sound eerily the same (something that even freaked us out when we heard the playback), he provides vocals throughout the track."
Good has since taken the song down, but don't worry — you can hear it when Good releases Vancouver in early October.
Pete Yorn released his fourth studio album Back And Fourth on June 23. Break Up, a collaborative album between Yorn and Scarlett Johansson, drops September 8.

YAWN.
if you had heard the song which some of us were sad enough to have had, you would have yawned.
Pete Yawn wasn't on it as it was a demo. If the demos are any indication of what is to come, as has been said before, Ol Mental Good will be posting more about mowin his lawn than yodelling like a goat .
I will say it here, this album is gonna make the Edmund Fitzgerald look like a dingy accident. It's like listening to the sound of someone trying to gargle to REM's last awful record with only one working speaker.
The two finger solos were even better.
It is kinda funny that he moans about the "downtown east side" while he has moved to the suburbs to a little ticky tacky old folks home style setup and plans to buy himself a nice quarterhorse. HAHAHAHAHHAHA... Quarterhorse? HAHHAHAHAHHAHA
I guess when you do so much as a "human rights activist" as he pretends to do, you need to get out of the crossfire and in front of a fire with your slippers and a nice blog.
Then get yerself a coupla QUARTERHORSES.
EQUESTRIANS FOR AFGHANIRAQISTAN!!
If only Jane Goodall and Dian Fossey had followed a lead like Ol' Mental Goods and just stayed in the suburbs..
Thats a true activist.... The armchair kind.
Mental needs to have less showers with his Mom and hit a stairmaster tho.
He's starting to look like Matt DeLuise Le Good, Mental Patient.
Stay Puft Ol' Mental Good, we're all rootin fer ya!Don't forget to take your pill.
And Now back to Iraq........

Shouldn't the track be called "Vancouver Civic Anthem"?
