The couple who slipped British tabloid The Sun a video of Amy Winehouse allegedly smoking crack in exchange for 50,000 British pounds (about $96,000 Canadian) have been ordered to donate the cash to charity.
John Blagrove, 34, and Cara Burton, 22, handed the video over to The Sun, which posted the cllip to its website in January 2008. The video appeared to show Winehouse inhaling from a crack pipe and taking six valium tablets to help her come down from previous drug-taking at her London, England home. The Sun also claimed Winehouse also snorted powered ecstasy and "highly-concentrated" cocaine during the binge.
Blagrove was sentenced to jail for two years in December after he admitted to drug offences, according to Britain's Sky News, while Burton was given two years probation after she admitted drug dealing charges. But Sky News also reports Blagrove was wearing hidden recording equipment at the time and allegedly captured Winehouse in the act.
But on Friday, Judge Tudor Owen ordered the couple to donate the video's profits to charities supported by London's Metropolitan Police Service, including anti-drug and children's charities.
It was recently reported Winehouse will soon start selling a line of greeting cards and wrapping paper with lyrics to her songs written on them. Nothing says, "Happy Birthday, Mom!" more than wrapping paper with the words "what kind of fuckery is this?" and "tried to make me go to rehab and I said... no, no,no..." printed on it.
