Arcade Fire are back at it after
taking a year off, and have started working on the follow-up to 2007's
Neon Bible.
Singer/guitarist Win Butler told Britain's
NME magazine the band have been writing material for what will become their third record, and he says it will hopefully come out soon.
"None of us want to take three years making a record," Butler said. "It could be that we'll play live [soon] and maybe we'll end up bashing [another album] out fast. We're in the middle of writing, things are coming together, it's a great feeling."
There's no definite release date or title for the album yet, but Butler says he hopes to return to the road sometime soon, regardless of when the album comes out.
"If you had asked me [about playing live] six months ago I'd be like, 'No, I'm good,'" he said. "But now I go to a gig and I get a little... I can imagine being on that stage. It's the step before you actually go and do it."
Arcade Fire released a tour documentary,
Miroir Noir, in April, and "Wake Up," from 2005's
Funeral, will be used on the upcoming Spike Jonze film adaptation of children's author Maurice Sendak's
Where The Wild Things Are when it's released in October.
