Hedley's Van Stolen In Montreal

Hedley's van was stolen in Montreal over the weekend and the band's gear went with it.

"Hedley just had their truck stolen from the Hotel Maritime in Montreal," bassist Tommy Mac wrote on his Twitter in the early hours of the morning on Saturday. "Lost everything. White Hino cube van with Soundart Toronto markings."

The band played Virgin Festival Montreal on Friday night and returned to the Montreal hotel when the incident took place.

Guitarist Dave Rosin relayed a similar message on his Twitter about an hour after Mac's post.

"Well, not gonna lie. Worst day ever," Rosin said at 6:35 a.m. on June 20. "Had our truck stolen last night in montreal with all our gear inside. Bummer."

The group carried on with its next show because Steve's Music in Montreal leant the band with some "basic supplies" so they could perform in Belleville, Ont. The group also appeared at the MuchMusic Video Awards.

Rosin began "replacing lost effects" by purchasing new gear on eBay, according to a post on his Twitter on Monday afternoon.

"The healing begins now," he said.

Although there was no other information on the band's site or MySpace page, a post by Dave Alderdice on the ProSoundWeb message boards added more information about the truck.

The vehicle was a half-ton, 16-foot 2008 Hino Truck with the license plate 869 4WK. The vehicle also had "Sound Art Toronto" and "CVOR 147-449-080" on the driver and passenger doors. The message adds that it was "full of band and stage gear" with a list of the items "to come soon."'

This is just one of a number of high-profile stings on bands in Montreal recently. The Dears had their entire bus stolen at the end of April. Maybe Hedley should contact Young Rival, who recently had their van returned to them after it was stolen.

Hedley have a lone date confirmed for this summer and have been working on new material in the studio for their next album. They'll play Calgary's Drenchedfest on Aug. 8.

And this.

I can probably find more, but I can't be bothered right now.

Bands... one of you should sleep in the van overnight in Montreal.
