Ex-Evanescencers Change Name

Well, that was quick. (And entirely predictable to anyone who had to search through the half-dozen or so other "Fallen" band websites...)
The band formerly know as The Fallen — original Evanescence members Ben Moody, John LeCompt and Rocky Gray and American Idol's Carly Smithson — have been given a cease-and-desist order for using the name of an already existing band.
Smithson and company will now appear under the moniker We Are The Fallen. (That's kind of funny in a fifth grade schoolyard fight way, if you think about it.)
The hard rock four-piece announced on June 18 that they would play under the title The Fallen, but were forced to change their name after receiving a notice from a Philadelphia band also called The Fallen. (Incidentally, both bands feature four male members and one female.)
The Philadelphia band formed as an experimental act by guitarists Gabe Horning and Mark Bolger in 2005 and have released two albums.
"We are truly sorry for the confusion that stemmed [last week] from an unexpected announcement from SKH Music [management for the new Moody-Smithson band],"
Alfadog Music, representation for the Philadelphia-based The Fallen, said in a June 19 statement. "The band will continue to bring their music to the fans and perform as The Fallen."
To add to the confusion, a 15-year-old California metal band also called The Fallen have been lying low but plan to return to the music scene in the near future.
The Metal Blade quartet sent a letter to the now-We Are The Fallen, stating that their band "has been dormant for a few years but is preparing a comeback and new album with the popularity of metal at a new high."
Sheesh. Prepare for the next round of Fallen vs. Fallen shortly.
Who's very confused right now?
