The Stills have started writing the follow-up to last year's Juno Award-winning Oceans Will Rise, and they think it should be in stores by February.
There's no word on when singers/guitarists Tim Fletcher and Dave Hamelin, bassist Olivier Corbeil, keyboardist Liam O'Neill and drummer Julien Blais will begin recording the album, but they promise to keep fans abreast of what's going on.
"We'll keep you fully awash in news-blasts from the nexus of our music-creational universe, where we can't stop tripping over all the awesome," the band wrote on their blog on Wednesday. "It's too bright to see anything in here. That's cool though, we got blindfolds, close friends, hallucinogenic trail mix, and the hugest will to channel massive love out to you from here. Like I said, it's awesome."
Last year, The Stills wrote about recording Oceans Will Rise in a metaphorical "jungle" — which was kind of literal, considering part of it was recorded in Costa Rica. Does this mean the follow-up will be recorded entirely on hallucinogenic trail mix while blindfolded? Do we dare issue a challenge?
You can see The Stills (on hallucinogenic trail mix?) at Montreal's Parc Jean-Drapeau on June 27 and at Ottawa's LeBreton Flats on July 10 as part of this year's Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest.
