Angels & Airwaves Love You

Angels & Airwaves
Just because Blink-182 are preparing to tour North America doesn't mean singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge can't work on Angels & Airwaves' next project.

DeLonge's band are preparing a new album and film called Love that DeLonge says should be released by the end of the year. Even better for Angels & Airwaves fans is that it will be released for free. Take that, 30 Seconds To Mars!

DeLonge told Billboard.com that Love's film component was originally a documentary about the recording of Angels & Airwaves' 2006 debut album, We Don't Need To Whisper, but evolved into a film that's a mix of live action and documentary with "meditative sequences where the sound design and the music and the picture all blend together to create a sonic experience as much as a visual one."

He also says the script is a "circular narrative" that acts as "a story of human life and destiny, but at the same time really makes usual moments of life extraordinary."

Musically, DeLonge describes Love as a mix of Radiohead, U2 and Pink Floyd.

"These things happen unpredictably and take you to these epic soundscapes," he said. "It's very much in the spirit of Angels & Airwaves, but it sounds way, way more thought-out and way more ambitious."

DeLonge formed Angels & Airwaves after Blink-182 went on hiatus in 2005. We Don't Need To Whisper came out the next year and was followed by I-Empire in 2007. The band's lineup also includes guitarist David Kennedy, bassist Matt Wachter and The Offspring's Atom Willard on drums.
