White Stripes Doc Debuting At TIFF

If you missed The White Stripes on their oddball 2007 cross-Canada tour, you'll be able to see footage of the entire tour this September. The White Stripes: Under Great White Northern Lights, the documentary of the tour, will premiere it at this year's Toronto International Film Festival.

The doc chronicles the band's performances in each Canadian province and territory. On the tour, Jack and Meg White proved they're not just an arena band when they played some of the most unexpected "venues" imaginable: a pool hall, a fishing boat, a bowling alley, a public park, a hospital, a YMCA, an armoury, a youth centre and even a flour mill, amongst other places. The tour ended on a high note in Newfoundland, where the band played, well, one note.

"We'd make up an idea at breakfast of where we'd play that day... then we'd make it happen," Jack White told the Canadian Press this past weekend. "We didn't pre-plan it. I don't like to do that too much, because I think it ruins things."

Under Great White Northern Lights will be screened at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival, which takes place Sept. 10-19.

Jack White is currently on tour with The Dead Weather, his new side project. The band will hit these cities:
