Jamie Lidell, MGMT, Devendra Banhart and producer Nigel Godrich will have the chance to record an album for Beck's new website. But here's the catch: They'll have to do it over a day.
Beck is going to relaunch is website over the next month, and one of its new features will be called Record Club. It will involve Beck's friends recording an album over one day, according to Wired.com. The recording will be unrehearsed so as to keep things spontaneous and experimental. One track a week will be available for download thereafter.
Not much more information is available about the project just yet, but the first album to appear on the site will be Beck's version of The Velvet Underground's 1967 masterpiece, The Velvet Underground And Nico.
Beck's 1994 independent release, One Foot In The Grave, was reissued earlier this year.
