Life is a sidewalk, and you'll soon be able to step all over Tom Cochrane and Blue Rodeo.

The musicians are among eight great Canadians who will receive stars on Canada's Walk Of Fame this year. The recipients will gather at Toronto's Four Seasons Centre For The Performing Arts on Sept. 12 for The Canada Honours tribute.

Organizers tallied over 100,000 suggestions from Canadians to determine this year's inductees, according to the Toronto Star newspaper. Universal Music Canada CEO Randy Lennox told the newspaper there are plans to create a new venue for the Walk Of Fame, which will include the history of each of teh award's 124 recipients.

The Walk Of Fame is in its 12th year and includes stars of 116 Canadians who have been successful in the areas of music, sport, film, television, science, innovation and the literary, performance and visual arts.

That number will climb to 124 with the addition of these 2009 inductees:

Blue Rodeo
Raymond Burr, actor
Kim Catrall, author
Tom Cochrane, singer/songwriter
Dsquared2 (Dean and Dan Caten), fashion designers
Howie Mandel, comedian/actor
Robert Munsch, author
Chantal Petitclerc, athlete
