A documentary about The White Stripes' 2007 cross-Canada tour, which saw them play shows in every province and territory, is in the works.
It's not known when the documentary will hit stores or theatres, but expect it to feature "everything," because that's what White told the film crew that accompanied them on tour to do.
"It seems to be much more than a concert film," White, whose ancestors lived in Nova Scotia, told the Canadian Press while he was in Toronto to play a last minute show with his new band The Dead Weather.
"I think Meg [White, drummer] and I gave away a lot more than we would ever have imagined we would want to."
The White Stripes began their cross-Canada tour in Burnaby, B.C. on June 24, 2007 and ended it on July 16 of that year in St. John's. They became the first band to play every Canadian province and territory, and also played some impromptu gigs along the way, which White says were thought up on the spot and weren't planned, and the documentary shows that.
"When we started [the tour], we just didn't know what we were doing, so we just [said] 'Film everything, see what happens,'" White told the Canadian Press. "I don't think we would wanna film ourselves like this. I'm pretty anti-reality television and all that ridiculous peeking behind the curtain sort of aspect of entertainment these days.
"But in this case, I don't think it really has that ridiculousness to it. It does have an insight into some of the things that got created and how we went about making a tour like that happen."
The White Stripes are working on a new album, but White is also busy with The Dead Weather, his new band that also includes Kills vocalist Alison Mosshart, The Greenhornes' and The Raconteurs' Jack Lawrence and Queens Of The Stone Age's Dean Fertita.
