At The Drive-In May Reunite

At The Drive-In

At The Drive-In may be ready to end their "indefinite hiatus."

Former At The Drive-In frontman and current Mars Volta singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala hinted that an ATDI reunion may be his next on his agenda in a recent interview with Drowned In Sound.

"We've been making amends with a lot of the members and giving some really good talks with them," said Bixler-Zavala. "I wouldn't mind it."

"Y'know, it might happen, we just have to iron out a lot of personal things," he continued. "A lot of it we've dealt with already and I've apologised for a lot of things I've said and the way it ended...we'll see what happens."

The El Paso, Texas punk band went on hiatus in 2001. Artistic differences between members, constant touring, excess hype and Bixler-Zavala and guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez's drug problems were among the reasons for the extended break.

Bixler-Zavala and Rodriguez-Lopez teamed up to form The Mars Volta (ATDI bassist Paul Hinojos joined later). Drummer Tony Hajjar, Hinojos and guitarist Jim Ward formed Sparta, and it looked like ATDI had been laid to rest.

Bixler-Zavala has taken responsibility for the hiatus in the past, and claimed his creativity was being stifled while in ATDI.

ATDI aren't just taking care of the emotional side of things.

"[We've] been trying to get our financial business in order because a lot of people have been ripping off that band really badly," explained Bixler-Zavala.
