Smashing Pumpkins Fall Album, Find Drummer

Billy Corgan says the Smashing Pumpkins should have new material on the horizon, with the target being "for putting out new music in October."
"There certainly is no shortage of ideas to choose from," Corgan wrote imperfectly in a June 5 blog on the band's website. "This past week has been trying to take the best one's and get them ready to record, which means some kind of realized arrangement and lyrics, which requires some teeth pulling and self-flaggelation to get me to say anything at all."
The band, whose most recent studio album was 2007's Zeitgeist, are currently without a label, so the new material could be released in a variety of formats.
In other news, Corgan also seems to have found the replacement for drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, who announced he was leaving the band earlier this year. But he's not naming names just yet.
"I've worked with him so far for one week and all indications are really good that he's the man for the job," Corgan says. "Going to work with him some more before it becomes official. Whoever takes the job has quite big shoes to fill, no doubt about it."
Corgan, who recently visited "C Love" (Courtney Love) in the studio, is also considering writing a book and had a meeting about it. But nothing is concrete.
"Still looking for the right guidance on what I'm trying to really say," he wrote.
