Perry Responds To Ditto

Katy Perry has called Gossip vocalist Beth Ditto "tacky" for calling Perry's "I Kissed A Girl" a "boner dyke anthem" that straight girls use to pull men.

Perry told The London Paper newspaper she was going to write a song about Ditto's comment to get back at her, but didn't really want to enter into a war of words with Ditto.

"I heard that she said something about me," Perry told The London Paper. "I don't want to get into a slanging war with anybody, so I don't want to say anything bad about her. But I'm not impressed.

"I've learnt in the past year that one artist should never insult another artist's music — it's tacky.

"And with me, it always comes back to bite me in the ass!"

Ditto, who is openly gay, told British gay magazine Attitude earlier this week that she hates Perry and finds "I Kissed A Girl" extremely offensive.

"She's offensive to gay culture, I'm so offended," Ditto said.

"She's just riding on the backs of our culture without having to pay any of the dues and not being actually lesbian or anything at all."

The Gossip's fourth album, Music For Men, comes out on June 23.
