CALGARY — Someone call the frat boys. Biz Markie will be in Calgary to party during the third annual Sled Island Music Festival from June 24 to 27.
The "Just A Friend" rapper has just been announced to share headlining duties with previously announced acts Malajube, Holy Fuck, Liars, M5, Anvil and The Breeders on the Olympic Plaza mainstage on June 26. On second thought, you'd better leave the keggers to the college kids, as this gig is all-ages and ends at 11 p.m. (screw you, noise bylaw).
Other bands added to the lineup yesterday include Seattle post-hardcore heroes These Arms Are Snakes, Canadian punks SNFU, Chad VanGaalen's new Black Moud project, Japanther and Woodpigeon.
Local faves added include The Ramblin' Ambassadors, Dragon Fli Empire, Knucklehead, The Neckers and Madcowboys, among others.
Tricky Woo, Andrew W.K., Monotonix, HEALTH, The Evaporators, Women, The Pack A.D., Githead, Japandroids and Hot Little Rocket are among the previously announced acts.
Over 250 acts ranging from comedy to "music" to just plain weirdness will perform during the festival. A full festival pass will run you $99 (subject to capacity), while an extra $100 will make you a VIP with guaranteed entrance to every show.
Check out www.sledisland.com to buy your pass and see the full schedule.
