Nas Blames Promoters For Newfoundland No-Show

Nas has blamed the promoters for his no-show at a Torbay, Nfld. show that was to happen last week and says they need to "get professional."

Nas flew to St. John's International Airport and was ready to play the show, but refused to do so after he was told promoter ODC could not pay his $47,000 performance fee.

"Bad business is bad business," Nas wrote on the Global Grind hip-hop site, which also reports ODC cancelled the hotel rooms for his party. "Now, I don't usually leave my crib unless all the business is handled first. But I love my fans in Canada so I said cool. But of course it wasn't cool."

Nas was due to take the stage after opener Kardinal Offishall, and his fans didn't take too kindly to his failure to show up. CBC News reported the crowd got "out of control" and at least three people were arrested. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary also nabbed more people on alcohol-related charges.

Nas is obviously not impressed with what happened, and had some advice for the promoters.

"My advice to wannabe promoters anywhere they are [is to] take business serious," he wrote on Global Grind.

"Learn about being professional. Always. It's very important to be real with people. Don't continue to pull these 1950-style ways of doin' business. It's wack."

You can see Nas at the Indian Lookout Country Club in Mariaville, N.Y. on July 17.
