Trent Reznor Helps Fund Heart Transplant

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor may be one of the reasons Eric De La Cruz gets a new heart.

De La Cruz needed a heart transplant and Reznor encouraged his fans to buy VIP packages to the NIN|JA North American tour through a message on his website.

He's now raised more than $850,000 U.S. (about $928,000 Canadian), which is much more than the $706,968 goal De La Cruz's sister, Veronica De La Cruz, had originally set. Remarkably, Reznor managed to raise more than $260,000 in one day.

Reznor is still accepting donations for VIP packages for headlining shows outside of North America and donations of at least $10. Fans who make $1,000 donations will receive one of 100 collectable, signed skateboards donated by Tony Hawk and a copy of Nine Inch Nails' Still signed by Reznor.

De La Cruz was originally turned down from transplant lists because of a lack of transplant facilities in his home state of Nevada. Reznor found out about his predicament after Veronica De La Cruz started a fundraising campaign on his website.
