The oft-fedora'd Dave Bidini plans to celebrate the release of his first semi-solo album with a downtown Toronto "Hoser's March" on June 6.

The former Rheostatics member's aptly named BidiniBand will release The Land Is Wild on June 9 through Pheromone Recordings. BidiniBand features former Rheostatics drummer Don Kerr on drums and guitar, Paul Linklater on guitar and Doug Friesen on bass.

Bidini will parade through downtown, following a route that hits many areas crucial to the Rheostatics’ development when they were still an unknown band from Etobicoke, Ont.

He'll be joined by musical friends on the journey that will include performances at Soundscapes, She Said Boom, This Ain't The Rosedale Library (with singer/songwriter Justin Rutledge and author Brian O'Dea), the patio of Paul's Boutique (with short filmmaker Gregory Samsung), Graffitti's (with Stephen Stanley and Ron Hawkins of Lowest Of The Low fame), the Cameron Public House (with Billie Hollies and Aurora Brown) and ending at the Horseshoe Tavern (with Laura Barrett). All of the performances will be free except for the Horseshoe.

The Land Is Wild includes "more songs about dead hockey players, cannibalism and lesbian school teachers," according to Bidini's website. Autographed copies can be pre-ordered from MapleMusic and will ship on June 9.
