Massive Attack To Tour Before Album Release

Massive Attack

Massive Attack will launch a world tour a month before releasing their fifth album in October through Virgin.

Vocalist Robert "3D" Del Naja told Billboard.com the tour will likely include more than 150 dates and will run through to the 2010 summer festival season.

Only European dates have been announced so far, but 3D said the tour should also take them to North America and Asia.

Massive Attack played songs that could show up on the as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2003's 100th Window when they toured last year. 3D hinted the new album could be titled Weather Underground.

"The album is out in October and we're touring in September, so there will be a two-week discrepancy where we'll politely request the audience's attention while they hear some new songs that have been remastered," 3D said.

"I think things are changing. I don't think people expect to hear an album they know and then go and hear it live. I think people are much more intelligent than that."

Massive Attack, who now consist of 3D and Grant "Daddy G" Marshall, were awarded an Ivor Novello award on Thursday for outstanding contributions to British music.
