"Crazy" White Cowbell Tour Being Planned

White Cowbell Oklahoma

It's noon, but White Cowbell Oklahoma's Clem C. Clemsen is far from being awake enough to talk.

"Can you give me 15 minutes?"

Belonging to Toronto's most dangerous — and arguably most talented — brood of rock 'n' roll banditos probably translates into a lot of late nights. White Cowbell Oklahoma have been out in recent weeks flouting their third album, Bombardero.

Clemsen is a little more lucid a short while later.

"I had to get my morning caffeine intravenously inserted," he says. "Otherwise, this wouldn't work out.

"What can I tell you about White Cowbell Oklahoma's daring new investiture into the universe?"

As CHARTattack's Stereo recently put it, Bombardero is evidence that Cowbell are getting "deadly serious... less songs about blow jobs and more about taking acid in the desert and hallucinating that you're riding on a purple winged horse shooting fire out of its ass."

Clemsen doesn't completely agree.

"Maybe you need to read deeper. These songs are all about sex and drugs. There's perhaps a little more in there... if you really look beyond the smut, which is, admittedly, all-encompassing and overwhelming sometimes."

Smut is certainly something that fans of Cowbell's performances expect. Aside from the chainsaw-fueled mayhem that punctuates each show's mid-point, the sextet routinely bring strippers and giant penises to the stage with them.

Their in-the-works tour for Bombardero is starting to sound like it's going to up the ante.

"We're planning the biggest, most bombastic White Cowbell Oklahoma Canadian tour ever," says Clemsen.

"We've been talking to other bands who have similar minds... and a bent for the eccentric. We have some crazy multimedia concepts going on. It's going to be more than the average titties and beer.

"I've said it before and I'll say it again: Everybody gets laid at the White Cowbell Oklahoma show."

Until then, you can see White Cowbell Oklahoma at the Ride For Sight benefit on June 20 in Collingwood, Ont. and the Dundas Cactus Festival on Aug. 15 in Dundas, Ont.
