Destroyer will release a two-song, 21-minute EP titled Bay Of Pigs on 12-inch vinyl through Merge Records on Aug. 18.
The title track from Dan Bejar's band is their "first foray into the ambient disco market," according to the label. It's more than 13 minutes and deals with the failed 1961 American invasion of Cuba. The song was recorded by Bejar, John Collins and David Carswell at Vancouver's JCDC Studio over the winter.
The B-side, "Ravers," is almost eight minutes and was played entirely on an analogue synthesizer recorded by Ted Bois (Pink Mountaintops) in April.
Destroyer's Trouble In Dreams came out more than a year ago, so there may be more new material other than the two aforementioned songs played at these shows:
July 22-25 Carrboro, NC @ Cat's Cradle (XX Merge)
July 27 Atlanta, GA @ The Earl
July 28 Washington, DC @ Black Cat
July 29 Philadelphia, PA @ First Unitarian Church
July 30 New York, NY @ Bowery Ballroom
July 31 Boston, MA @ Paradise
Aug. 2 Sackville, NB @ Sackville United Church
